Simon: Why You Have to Change Your Circle to Scale
From carpenter to Dubai. The mindset side of scaling, from someone who has lived it.
At a glance
| Who | Simon, from Scandinavia, now living in Dubai |
| Background | Carpenter, ice hockey, then years learning to trade crypto |
| Relationship | Met Tobias in Sweden, then Switzerland in 2021 and 2022, partners for several years |
| Focus | Trading plus building a business for cash flow |
This one is different from the other case studies. It is less about a funnel and more about the person you have to become to scale one.
The starting point
Simon had an average, good upbringing, worked as a carpenter and played ice hockey. What bothered him was being told his worth. "Somebody telling you you're worth $100 a day or $10 an hour. That didn't make any sense in my head."
He answered an ad about learning to trade that looked like a scam. It was not. It took years to learn.
Why trading alone was not enough
Trading gave him a skill, but not the path to his goals. "Only trading is not going to get me towards the goals I want, because then I need to do a heavy overleveraged trade. I need to get cash flow from something."
So he wanted a business, and since he had already learned trading, building inside the trading industry made sense.
Lesson one: get into the right rooms
"For you to go to a certain level, you need to get into certain rooms, because connections and network are everything. And for you to get into certain rooms, you need to become a certain person."
That means working on yourself first: confidence, value, and the persona you want to become, both online and offline.
Lesson two: know everyone's incentive
After being backstabbed in business before, Simon now wants to know exactly what the other side makes. "I want to do business with people who say, I will help you make money, and on top of that, this is exactly what I'm going to make."
Tobias connects this to why BrokerAffiliation exists: a mentor who earns when you earn wants you to succeed. It is also why BrokerAffiliation teaches how brokers make money, how CPA and rebate traffic work, and where the margins go.
Lesson three: build desire through exposure
Most people who never take action lack desire, and desire comes from what you expose yourself to. "You can never desire something that you haven't experienced."
His turning point was his circle. People around him started hitting their first million, one after another. "I got this feeling: it doesn't matter what it takes, just do it."
Lesson four: why this industry
Simon's reasoning: write down exactly how you want to live, then reverse engineer it. If you want to travel, you need something online. If you want to make a lot of money, look at where money flows. Whatever business people run, the money ends up in investing and trading. "So why not just be the person that is in that industry directly?"
In his own words
"The goal is never the end thing. It's never to buy the watch. The goal is always what is right now in front of you."
"Take a pen and a paper. Write down exactly how you want to live your life. Don't think about what's realistic."
Lessons you can apply
- Become the person first. The rooms open when you bring value into them.
- Always ask about incentives. Work with people whose earnings are tied to yours.
- Expose yourself to what you want. Books, audios, people and environments create desire.
- Start where you are. You do not start by selling jets. You start with the next small step.
- Take action. Tobias's reminder: people are sent a one-hour masterclass and never watch it. The ones who act are the ones who scale.
