Lucas: Why Traders Should Also Be Affiliates
A trader who added IB for stable cash flow, and now shows everything from the inside.
At a glance
| Who | Lucas, 24, from Copenhagen, Denmark |
| Background | Network marketing, then trading, then introducing broker |
| Time with BrokerAffiliation | Met Tobias in person about five months before the interview, after following him for years |
| Model | IB as the main income, trading on top |
| Fun fact | Won the first ever BrokerAffiliation padel tournament |
The starting point
Lucas started in network marketing, became a trader, then stopped network marketing and became an IB. He does not work a job, so structure is everything.
His day: he trades the London session, goes to the gym, and after trading he does IB work, calls, outreach, content and social media.
Why IB became his main focus
"Trading itself can be a lot of up and down, and you need a stable cash flow where you can also scale that cash flow into even more money. That is 100% the best thing to do, IB, if you're also trading yourself."
He now puts more focus on IB to scale it up, and uses that income to invest in trading and other things.
Tobias adds a practical point from the interview: you can withdraw from your IB dashboard to your trading account and either trade yourself, follow the signals, or use copy trading, and split the rest across other investments.
Why traders make strong affiliates
Traders have an advantage most affiliates do not.
- Traders influence other traders. New affiliates often have to convince people who have never traded. A trader brings other traders.
- Traders bring volume. People who already trade actually trade.
- Traders stay. "They already know how trading works. You don't have to explain everything from the start. You can plug them into the system, and if the results in the system are there, it's easy for them."
Seeing is believing
Lucas does not ask people to take his word for it. He shows everything from the inside on Zoom.
"I open the signal groups. I show the copy traders. I show the Myfxbooks. I show the broker connections. I show that we work with multiple brokers. I show everything."
He also recommends opening a live account yourself, taking the trades and checking the track record, so you can speak from experience.
Why he chose to partner
When choosing who to partner with, Lucas looked at three things:
- The people. Who they are, how they act, and whether you can trust them, "not only by words but by actions".
- The systems. What is actually in place, how they operate, whether the signals are good.
- The results.
Retreats matter for the same reason. At the BrokerAffiliation retreat he met the team, the broker partners and other affiliates face to face. "It's one of the best things for creating a good culture: trust, and knowing who you're actually working with."
In his own words
"Try it out. You have literally nothing to lose. Follow the plan for 30 to 60 days and see it for yourself. If you actually executed the plan and didn't get results, then of course it's not for you. But give it a real chance."
"You can always see things and hear things, but if you haven't tried it, you can't really be confident enough to say this is not for me."
Lessons you can apply
- If you trade, add IB. Rebates give a trader stable cash flow that trading alone does not.
- Structure your day around the market. Trade your session, then build the business.
- Show, do not tell. Open the groups, the copiers and the track records on a call.
- Use the ecosystem yourself. You promote better what you have actually used.
- Give it a real test. 30 to 60 days of following the plan, not one trade a week.
