Aron and Anna: Building a Forex Affiliate Business as a Couple
Two different audiences, one business, and a lot more time together.
At a glance
| Who | Aron and Anna, a couple from Norway |
| Background | Aron traded and worked in marketing and sales. Anna always wanted to learn trading |
| Model | Mostly direct customers, starting to build affiliates |
| Main platforms | Snapchat first, TikTok and Instagram next |
| What changed | More travel, less stress, a business run from a phone |
The starting point
Aron came from previous businesses where he wanted to help people for free, but the model did not allow it. Anna saw the result up close: "He was very stressed before, always on his toes."
Anna had always wanted to learn trading but did not know how to start, what to use or where to go.
What changed
Starting for free made the difference for Aron. "One thing I was missing when I started was real help. To be able to start for free, many people appreciate it, because they trust you more."
For Anna, the change in Aron was obvious. "I could just see him calm down, not stressed anymore, actually enjoying the moments with me and with others, and actually helping others in the way he wanted to."
Today they travel together and run the business from their phones. "The only criteria is Wi-Fi, a phone, and be 18 plus."
Two audiences, two approaches
Aron: direct customers first. His advice is to focus on your own customers before chasing affiliates.
- Do not push customers to the highest lot size.
- Go through your customer base and find their friends, because most people do not want to do this alone.
- Become friends with your customers and care whether they make money. "Everybody starts at one time and needs help in the beginning."
Anna: women-only groups. She grows on Snapchat, where her audience already is, and runs her own groups just for women.
- Women tend to be more skeptical and want to see that it works for women too.
- They are often motivated by independence: "They don't want to rely on a man."
- They need more info and more steps, and want to work more closely with her.
How systems reduced the stress
Aron's worst experience in previous companies was the lack of clear systems: problems following people up, tracking them and helping them properly. The Telegram bot changed that.
"You can actually track your customers. You can look up who's actually serious about it. You don't need to go through your Snapchat list and put emojis. You have everything in one place. You reduce your stress, you get more efficient, and your customers can get in touch with you easier."
In their own words
"I feel like I'm living the dream now, and it's only going to get better." (Aron)
"He gets more time with me. We go on a lot more vacations, have more fun, free time, and I like this version better." (Anna)
"You can scale this as large as you want in every country, because they're not required to pay you anything. So it's easier to get trusted." (Aron)
Goals they shared
- Aron: move out of Norway, travel more, build a trading community of over 500 people who are actually profitable, and help his family financially.
- Anna: travel more, spend more time together, and later help her parents.
Tobias's point to close the interview: do not underestimate $20, $50 or $100 a day. $50 a day over a month can cover rent for a young person. Affiliate is for anyone, not only the people talking about six figures.
Lessons you can apply
- Build where your audience already is. Anna started on Snapchat because that is where her people were.
- Serve a specific group. Women-only groups gave Anna a clear message and a community competitors ignore.
- Care about the customer, not the lot size. Customers who trust you bring their friends and family.
- Get out of the emoji list. One place to track customers reduces stress and lost follow-ups.
- Keep goals simple. Simple goals keep you going when a week is slower than hoped.
